Harappa Participants Map

Davidski created a Google map of Eurogenes participants and Reiver suggested something similar would be cool for Harappa Ancestry Project too.

So I have copied the idea and created a google map for Harappa Ancestry Project.

Now participants need to go and add themselves to the map at their ancestral location. Here are the instructions:

  1. Login to your Google account. (If you don't have one, you'll have to create one.)
  2. Click Edit button. Do not edit title or description on the left of the map.
  3. Click on Add Placement marker and drag it to the desired location. Choose the most appropriate location for your ancestry.
  4. Put your project ID in the title for the placemark and your ancestry in the description.
  5. Click Save button.

That's it!

Admixture Onge Component Map

Since the Onge component on my K=11 admixture run was very strongly correlated with Reich et al's Ancestral South Indian (r2Simranjit has been kind enough to let me share his map of the Onge component in South Asia.

He also has maps of the K=12 admixture run.

Harappa Maps

Simranjit has generated new isopleth maps from the latest K=12 admixture run.

C1 South Asian:

Simranjit's also creating isoclusters now which classify different points/regions into clusters based on the admixture results Simran is using from here. Here's an isocluster map with 15 clusters inferred from the K=12 admixture results of reference populations and Harappa participants.

South Asian Map

Simranjit has another map:

I am working on improving the interpolation algorithm to take into account barriers such as oceans and even terrain features like mountain ranges. However, this process takes a long time.

Anyways in the meantime , this is one i think the participants would be interested in. It has several things in it, an isopleth layer for C1 - South Asian (12 gradations for more impact). It also have the other Components (C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C8) represented in the form of pie charts. Base map is a topographic one this time.

Harappa Participant Admixture Maps

Following maps of the reference populations, Simranjit has gone ahead and included the Harappa Project participants in these maps as well.

Here's what he said:

I'm now incorporating project participants into the maps. I had to drop admixed individuals, however, and I made some choices, dropped the Bihari Kayastha and the Tamil Nadu non-Brahmin for now, as they differ a fair bit. Take note that as we don't have reference sample for some countries so this sometimes can cause the interpolation to be off (e.g. lack of Central Asian republics other than Uzbekistan is skewing Central Asia to be more South Asian than it really is).

These maps are based on K=12 admixture run.

The gradation is from Dark green (low) to Dark red (high) for most of them.

Basically the percentages for each Component are divided into 32 equal intervals, to create the contour effect. Take note that it represents relative values not absolute.

Isopleths

Simranjit has done a great job of creating some maps showing the distribution of the various ancestral components at K=16. He has posted them on DNA Forums and sent them to me.

The gradation is from Dark green (low) to Dark red (high) for most of them.

Basically the percentages for each Component are divided into 32 equal intervals, to create the contour effect. Take note that it represents relative values not absolute.
