Harappa Median IBS with Reference 3

You guys didn't like it the last time I did this and you are not going to like this either, but while I am thinking of solutions for posting closest individual IBS neighbors, here's another go at which reference populations have the best median IBS matches with you.

I used Reference 3 with about 100,000 SNPs for this IBS run.

Go to the spreadsheet and click on your ID in the column headers to sort by your similarity to the different reference populations.

UPDATE: I have added a transpose spreadsheet too, on Onur's request, so that you can sort which Harappa participant has higher or lower scores with a specific reference population.

  1. can't wait 'till u run admixture with the austro-asiatics within the r. i notice that my family are close to a lot of those. not too surprising as we have the "right mix."

    Is lodi the Lodha of the Vindhyan ranges spread out from the west to east?

          UP/MP/Maratha 73.80
          Tamil Brahmin 73.80
          Kerala Brahmin 73.78
          Kashmiri 73.77
          Maratha Desastha Brahmin 73.76

          This is more understandable.
          Top five for Kashmiri Pandit:
          Maratha Desastha Brahmin 74.09
          Karnataka 74.07
          UP Kayastha 74.07
          UP/MP/Maratha 74.07
          Kerala Muslim 74.06

          • Parasar, the top five IBS values for Kashmiri Pandits are higher than the top five IBS values for Pathans, so Kashmiri Pandits are genetically more closer to their respective top five IBS matches than Pathans are to theirs own. This is understandable, as overwhelming majority of the project participants are from India or Pakistan while none from Afghanistan, the country probably where genetically most Pathan-like non-Pathan/Pashtun people can be found.

            Yes the absolute values make sense.

            But it is the Pathan's top matches that surprised me.

            The Kashmiri Pandit top matches is understandable since it is a Pandit (Agnihotra Bhanmashi Brahmana) population that is in large part of Maharastrian/Konkan origin.

  4. Afghanistan, the country probably where genetically most Pathan-like non-Pathan/Pashtun people can be found.

    Afghanistan Tajiks come to mind. Though I suspect that Pakistan has a similar chance of harboring the genetically most Pathan-like non-Pathan people on earth. My brother who served in the NATO Turkish army in Afghanistan says that overall Afghanistan Tajiks are less swarthy and South Asian-looking than Afghanistan Pathans/Pashtuns are and have finer features than them, so the Pakistan alternative is plausable.
